Prof. V. Chengalva Rayulu assumed charge as Associate Dean, College of Veterinary
Science, SVVU, Garividi on 21st September 2020. He has 23 years of experience in
teaching, research, and extension. Before joining SVVU, he served in the Poultry
industry and Department of Animal Husbandry for 7 years. Dr Rayulu made significant
contributions in the field of Veterinary Parasitology. He developed a monoclonal
antibody-based test kit (TE-LAT) a breakthrough in the diagnosis of Surra disease
in India and is in use for the last 15 years. He carried out research projects funded
by ICAR, DBT and RKVY, published 72 research articles in various Nationally and
Internationally reputed journals and his h-index is 13 with more than 500 citations.
He guided 3 PhD and 7 MVSc students as a Major Advisor. He organized symposia, animal
health camps, rhythu sadassu and delivered talks in radio and TV. Besides teaching,
research, and extension discharged administrative duties as NSS Program Officer,
Warden, Officer on Academic Matters, Officer in Charge of Student Activities and
Officer in Charge for transport. He received ‘Antonie van Leeuwenhoek Research Award
in Parasitology’, State Best Teacher Award from the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, and
National Fellow of Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology.
