Bluetongue Virus Research : BTV-2 was first isolated from Native sheep of India. Reported the circulation of Multiple serotypes (2,9,10,16,21) in the state. Developed genotyping methods for detection and quantification of BTV.  Established the bluetongue virus research laboratory at college of Veterinary Science, Tirupati. Research work resulted in development of vaccine for field use and to have the early diagnostic methods to cater the needs of the farmers. Coducted National seminars on Strategies for control of Bluetongue. Developed inactivated multivalent vaccine using local serotypes 2, 9, 16 and 21  to control the disease. For large scale production and distribution of vaccine to the farmers the technology was transferred to VBRI, Hyderabad. Subsequently, research work continued under All India Network Programme on Bluetongue and the technology for preparation of pentavalent vaccine  was transferred to Indian Immunologicals Private Limited, Gachibowli and Sanvita Bio-tech Limited, Hyderabad. Established the linkages with ACIAR, Australia; Australian Animal Health Laboratories, Geelong, Australia and Pirbright Institute, UK

Research Work on Footrot : Isolated Dichelobacter nodosus serotypes for the first time from sheep maintained in tropical climate of Southern India the causative agent of footrot. Virulent and multiple serotypes of Dichelobacter nodosus (A, B, C, E & I) were isolated and deposited in repository centre. Studied epidemiology of footrot in Andhra Pradesh and reported Dichelobacter nodosus serogroup H, first time from Indian subcontinent. Multivalent inactivated vaccine using local strains (A,B,I) was developed and conducted lab and field trials. Technology id under transfer to Private industries for large scale production. Studies on footrot helped in establishing linkages with university of Warwick, UK and submitted an international project to DBT- BBSRC-FADH for funding. Further it helped to secure funding from ICAR and RKVY for Development of vaccine for control of the disease.

Development of Immubnodiagnsotic Kits : ELISA based Immuno diagnostic kits to monitor immune responses in sheep vaccinated against ET and in cattle vaccinated against HS were developed under AP-NL-Biotechnology program. The kits are being used to study the effectiveness of the vaccinations programs in the field. It resulted in successful vaccination programs and thereby controlled the mortality. The technology developed for preparation of the kits was transferred to VBRI, Hyderabad for large scale production and field use.
