Prof. Velamala Vaikunta Rao

Prof.Velamala Vaikunta Rao, was born on 6th August, 1967 in Vandanavalasa Village, Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. He graduated in Veterinary Science from College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University in 1990 followed by M.V.Sc. degree in the field of Veterinary Medicine from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar U.P in 1992 and worked as Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in Animal Husbandry department, Andhra Pradesh from 26-02-1993 to 20-05-1998. He obtained Ph.D degree in Clinical Veterinary Medicine from Madras Veterinary College, TANUVAS, Chennai.

He worked as Assistant Professor from 21-5-1998 to 22-8-2007 in the Dept. of Veterinary Medicine, College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati. He worked as Associate Professor and Head from 23-8-2007 to 25-10-2012 in the Dept of Veterinary Clinical Complex, CVSc, Tirupati. Prof. Rao worked as Professor and Head, Dept. of Veterinary Medicine, NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Andhra Pradesh from 26-10-2012 to 3-6-2018. He worked as Professor and Head, Dept of Veterinary Clinical Complex, CVSc, Tirupati from 4-6-2018 t0 31-12-2020.

College of Veterinary Sciences, Proddatur

The College of Veterinary Science, Proddatur was started established in the year 2008 vide G.O.MS.No.247, Finance (SMPC) Dept, dated 20.08.2008 of Government of Andhra Pradesh. This College is a constituent College of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati offering by Five Years Degree course BVSc & AH (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry) the Veterinary graduates serve the livestock in the field of animal husbandry and from 2016 year admitted batch onwards the duration of course is Five and half years.

The students are excelling the fields of academics, sports, games, literary, and cultural activities at college, university state and national levels.

  1. Students have excelled in inter collegiate sports games and cultural meet in mono action, one act play, skit and group dance and bagged over all championship in cultural and literary activities.
  2. Student got Gold medal in shuttle badminton champion at national level.
  3. Students participated in NSS Youth camp at Rajamahendravaram and bagged award in essay writing competition.
