Prof. (Dr) P.V.S.Kishore, M.V.Sc., Ph.D., FNAVS, FIAAVR, FIAVA, FASAWwas the Professor & Head, Veterinary Anatomy till he assumed charge as Associate Dean on 30-10-2023. He was the recipient of a gold medal, a State Merit Scholarship and an ICAR Merit Scholarship in academics. He was the recipient of the “Humane Education Award 2003” from International Network for Humane Education, England and “Best Educationist Award” for Education Excellence in 2011 from International Institute of Education & Management, New Delhi. He was also the recipient of the national level “Anatomist of the year Award 2020”,recipient/co-recipient ofsix best paper presentation awards and two best publication awards from the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists. He received the “Best Teacher Gold Medal Award” from the Veterinary Association in Andhra Pradesh in 2012, “State Level Award for meritorious University Teachers” from Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in 2022 and the “Outstanding Veterinarian Award” from C. K. Rao Endowment Trust of A.P. Veterinary Association in 2023.

He received honours’ like “Honorary Animal Welfare Officer” from Animal Welfare Board of India for the term 1992-1997, “Honorary Research Board of Advisor” 2001 from The American Biographical Institute and “Certificate of Excellence” as Member of Scientific Advisory Board for International Journal of Livestock Research for 5 years from 2016-17 to 2021-22. He was the Expert Member (Chancellor’s nominee) for recruitment to the post of Professor in Anatomy and for Assistant Professors in various universities. He was the CCSEA Nominee/Inspector of the Ministry of FAH&DD, Government of India since August 2009 for 50 institutions till date. He was the Veterinary Council of India Inspector on two occasions.

He was the Expert Committee Member for the state of Maharashtra to study the running capability of bulls in 2018. He was the Special Invitee to the Adhoc Board of Studies in SP Mahila Viswa Vidyalaya Women’s University, Tirupati, A.P. in 2018 and 2019.He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of ICMR-NARFBR, Hyderabad in 2021 and member of the Expert Committee of ICMR for India Road Map-White Paper on Alternatives to animals in Research in 2021. He is currently a member of the Research Advisory Board of Sibar Dental College of the Health University, A.P.He is currently a member of the District Zoonoses committee of A.P. He is currently the National President of Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomistsfor 2022 to 2024 term.

He brought a grant of Rupees One lakh in 2003 to the Department of Veterinary Anatomy from International Network for Humane Education (InterNICHE), England for purchase of models as teaching aids and alternatives in education. He also brought two PG fellowship grants of US$ 8000 in 2009 and US$ 9000 in 2011 from Bristol-Myers Squibb for post-graduate research on laboratory animals and he carried out a DST funded project on bone regeneration between 2018-2021. He executed an MOU with the Health University for research on laboratory animals. He was the Co-course teacher/developer in Anatomy in NIAP e-learning UG project with ICAR in 2008 and was the Content creator in Anatomy in NAHEP e-learning PG project with ICAR in 2020. He is also the teacher for Intellectual Property Management post graduate course.

He established the ‘Willed body programmein Veterinary Education’as an innovative teaching-learning methodology and launched an educational YouTube channel ‘Willed body programme, Gannavaram’for uploading Anatomy educational videos, both as the first of its kind in the country.He was the chairman of advisory committee for 6 PhD/PG scholars, member of advisory committee for 12 PG scholars and additional member of advisory committee for 4 PG scholars. He has evaluated several Ph.D./MVSctheses and was the paper setter for UG and PG/PhD for several universities. He has Chaired/Rapporteured/Judged/Evaluated various scientific sessions in 17 National/International conferences. He screened the Fellow IAVA Award, Young Scientist Award, best Ph.D/MVSc theses awards&is currently the National Veterinary Anatomy Quiz Master for IAVA.He was the Expert Inviteeto the VCI MSVE UG 2023 draft Regulations finalization experts meeting in 2023.

He was the Referee/Reviewer for 7 national and 5 international journals. He was the Member of the Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Veterinary Anatomy and Editor for the ‘Point Journal of Agriculture and Biotechnology Research’ International journal. He has one international book publication from LAP Lambert Academic Publishing GmbH & Co., Germany in 2010, five national book/chapter publications and six university book publications. He also wrote two University Laboratory manuals. He prepared the Question Bank in Veterinary Anatomy for ICAR-AIEEA (PG) examination. He published 66 Scientific papers, 3 Technical papers and 9 Abstracts. He is a Life-Member in 12 professional bodies.

He organized 15 programmes which include two international virtual training programmes on advances in microscopic techniques and biomedical research, two anatomy national web conferences, three international webinars, one offline National Workshop, one offline Training course for laboratory technicians, one training programme for Veterinarians and one ICAR Training and Capacity building programme. He contributed in organizing the IAVA Annual Conventions in 1994 & 2007, the International Congress on Canine Practice in 2018 and the Association of Meat Scientists & Technologists IV Annual Convention and National Seminar in 2019. He underwent two Pedagogy trainings and five Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) from NAARM, Hyderabad and was an invitee to the NAHEP National Workshop in 2023 to share innovative practices. He attended 84 Conferences/Workshops/Seminars and presented Lead Papers, Invited/Plenary lectures and was Panel speaker at national and international level conventions on 24 occasions.

He completed the Animal Welfare Training Course sponsored by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) & Animal Welfare Board of India (Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt of India) in 1992 and was a Resource person for their Animal Welfare Training Courses.He was the Resource Person at various interNICHE, England workshops in India in 2005. He travelled abroad widely and has good international exposure. He was President of Rotary, Lions, Red Cross, Teachers Associations etc. for several years and carried out several service activities. He is also a donor of several professional extracurricular trophies, academic awards, and other items at university and college levels for students.
