Department of Veterinary Anatomy

About

The Department of Veterinary Anatomy started functioning in 1998-99 when the college was established with the UG programme. MVSc programme was initiated in 2009-10 and Ph.D programme was initiated in 2015-16.

The department has a well developed museum with fibre-optic resin models and plastinated specimens. It also has a good Histology laboratory with Microscopy facility. It has experienced faculty who have many national and international publications and awards.

Activities in the Department:

  1. ‘Willed Body Programme in Veterinary Education’ is being implemented.
  2. MVSc & Ph.D programmes are being run.
  3. Digitalization of Histology laboratory is under process.
  4. Freezers & Coolers with UPS facility are used for storage of cadavers.
  5. Innovative Teakwood non-animal alternative models are used for teaching.
  6. The department got a grant of Rs 100,000=00 from International Network for Humane  Education (InterNICHE), England for purchase of models as teaching aids and alternatives in education in the year 2003.
  7. The department got PG fellowship grants of US$ 8000 in 2009 and US$ 9000 in 2011 from Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bangalore for post-graduate research on laboratory animals.
  8. The department staff was a Co-course teacher / developer in Anatomy in National   Agricultural Innovation Programme (NIAP) e-learning UG project with TANUVAS in 2008
