Department of Veterinary Pathology

About

The Department of Veterinary Pathology initially started during 1998 to offer U.G. courses and was subsequently upgraded to offer Masters programme from the year 2008-09 and Doctoral programme from the year 2014-15. The Department has a good collection of various types of teaching materials including some rare specimens in the well maintained museum. The Department has developed a molecular diagnostic laboratory with the help of a DST funded research project. Besides handling the regular academic programmes, the Department caters to the diagnostic needs of the college, University Research Stations, Animal Husbandry Department and the farmers. The Department has executed one DST funded research project on “Detection of Jaagsiekte Sheep Retrovirus (JSRV) in Sheep by Immunohistochemical and Molecular Techniques” with Dr. V. Rama Devi as Principal Investigator. The staff have also undergone different training programmes and participated in national and international seminars.
