Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology

About

This Department came into existence in the month of November 2001 with Dr. K. Subrahmanyam Naidu, Professor of Gynaecology as in-charge Head on 26-11-2001. Subsequently Dr. Makkena Sreenu, took over as Head since 13-05-2003 to establish the department. At first, the department was in the APEL building ( the present Livestock complex) and later on shifted to the newly constructed Clinical Complex building. This department has been showing a galloping growth in its development, since its inception in the three basic mandates of the University viz. Teaching, Research and Extension. In fact, the results of research in any discipline of Veterinary Science reach the livestock farmer or a pet owner through the clinical services, more so through Surgery and Radiology. Perhaps this is the reason for the emergence of department as an apex center for referral cases from all over the districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Telangana state. This department is vested with different specialized sections, which aid in diagnosis and treatment of different surgical affections of animals besides imparting skillful education to the undergraduate, Postgraduate and doctoral students. The instructions to the BVSc & AH, MVSc and Ph D students started during 2001-02, 2008-09 and 2015-16 academic years respectively. Dr. R Surya wamshi, Dr. VSC Bose, Dr. R Thanga Durai and D Bhagya Raj Anand assisted the existing regular staff, worked in the department on a contract basis and served the department
