About Us

The Animal Husbandry Polytechnic college was established at the LRS, Garividi, Vizianagaram District in the month of October, 2005 under the control of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University vide University Proc.No.1746/Acad.I/A2/2005, Dated: 07.10.2005 of Officer on Special Duty, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati.

Mandate: The Animal Husbandry Polytechnic was established with a view to train the Para Veterinary man power for the Animal Husbandry sector for the rural areas of North Coastal Zone of Andhra Pradesh.

Details of College Administration: Government of Andhra Pradesh has been sanctioned One Principal (Associate Professor cadre), Two Assistant Professors for Teaching , one Superintendent on regular basis and one JACT, one Lab Technician, one Veterinary Assistant, two Animal Attendants are permitted to be outsourced through an agency vide G.O.Ms.No. 207, Dated: 24.07.2008 of Principal Secretary, Finance (SMPC) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. One Part time Physical education Teacher also engaged through a university order.

4. Dean of Student Affairs of SVVU Dr.P.R.S. Moorthy, Ex. Director of Animal Husbandry (Govt. of AP) Dr. Kanaka Sundara Rao, Joint Director (AH), Vizianagaram Dr. Y. Simhachalam were visited the A.H.Polytechnic campus on 09.08.2016 on the eve of 1st< College Day Celebrations Of AHP, Garividi.
5. NABARD team visited the campus along with the General Manager on 3-2-2017 to inspect the prevailing conditions for the release of funds for the construction of civil structures for the proposed new Veterinary College at Garividi.
6. The District Collector of Vizianagaram visited the campus on 31-3-2017 for supervision & monitoring the buildings available for the proposed new Veterinary College at Garividi.
7. Sri.S.Suryanarayana Garu, Hon’ble Member, Board of Management, SVVU visited the campus on 30-5-2017.

Hostel Facilities:

New Hostel buildings were provided to the students (Boys and Girls separately) with well-equipped furniture, TV room with cable connection, good drinking water facility. Entire Girls hostel was covered with compound wall (with barbed wire fencing on backside of the hostel).

Library Facilities:

The Library was provided with 67 reference books in the area of Livestock farm management, Health management, Diagnostic aspects etc., and Telugu journals like Pasunestham, Rythunestham, Annadata, Nelatalli etc. Developed digital classroom in which we will explain the different housing patterns, medication procedures, cattle shows, breeds with the help of C.D’s.

NSS Activities:

Existence of one NSS unit with 58 NSS volunteers. NSS volunteers and college staff were actively participated in different activities taken up like vanam-manam programme, Swachhatapakhwada, Cashless transactions campaign, NavanirmanaDeeksha, Special NSS camps etc., at the institution level and also in nearby villages of Garividi and Cheepurapalli mandals of Vizianagaram district.

Extra curricular activities:

Students were participated in the Inter Polytechnic colleges of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Games, Sports, Cultural and Literary meet regularly as when conducted in different constituent colleges of the university. Ms. M. Chinni (2016 Batch) has won Individual Championship medal at VIII Inter Polytechnic Sports, Games, Cultural and Literary meet held at Animal Husbandry Polytechnic, Rapur, SPSR Nellore district from 24.11.2019 to 26.11.2016.

Awards and Honors:

1. Dr. S. Jagadeeswara Rao, Senior Scientist & Vice Principal i/c of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic and Livestock Research Station, Garividi has been awarded Sri NeelakanthapuramSreeramaReddi Gold medal for the year 2005 in the XXXIX Annual Convocation of ANGRAU, Rajandranagar on 24.03.2007.
2. Dr. M. V. A. N. Suryanarayana, Principal i/c of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic and Senior Scientist & Head, Livestock Research Station, Garividi has received the best research scientist award on 28.02.2013 at 4th Convocation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati.
