The Government of Andhra Pradesh have accordedpermission to Sri Venkateswara Veterinary Universityfor establishment of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic (AHP) at Kommemarri, Kurnool district vide G.O.MS.No.18 Dt. 24.03.202 of the Animal Husbandry, Dairy development and Fisheries (AH-II) department. Later on,the Government of Andhra Pradesh have transferred 10.00 acres of land, survey no. 801/2 to Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati for establishment of Animal Husbandry Polytechnic atD. Hussainapuram,Kommemarri (R.V), Kurnool District.

Dr.K.Usha sree

Dr. K. Usha Sree started as Assistant Professor in Department of Veterinary Medicine at NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram on 21-08-2013. Then, she Joined as Scientist at Livestock Research station, Mahanandi from September 2017 to March 2023 presently working as Principal of AHP Kommemarri. (from October 2026) She acquired B.V.Sc degree (2010) at college of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, M.V.Sc (2013) in Veterinary Medicine from Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati and Ph.D from PVNRTVU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. She published more than 10 articles in different journals. She is life member for Indian Association of veterinary Mastitis and Member of different associations like Indian society for Veterinary Medicine and Preventive Medicine.

Outreach and Services

Health camps are conducted at the surrounding villages of the college which is helpful for both livestock farmers and the students. Students are made to give seminars by the course teachers and are evaluated for assignments regularly. The above activity encourages students to better understand their topic and also to develop their communication skills to interact with farmers at field level. Students are made a part of the seasonal deworming and vaccination programmes organized by AH Department for important livestock diseases like FMD, Blue tongue disease, HS, ET etc. During these camps the students also involve in extension activities such as explaining the farmers regarding good animal husbandry practices Weekly NSS program is conducted which involves the students’ participation in maintaining a clean campus. A mandatory Special NSS program is conducted for every batch for one week prior to their internship programme. In addition students are trained for extracurricular activities including sports and games like cricket, volleyball in the college ground for maintaining physical fitness. Also special days like International Yoga Day are celebrated with yoga sessions for the wellness of staff and students.
