In May 2012, the department of Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics (VGO) started
functioning in one of the complexes of CVSc, Proddatur.Later in 2015, in the month
of August the department shifted to newly constructed buildings in Gopavaram village,
ProddaturThe department is having Andrology and semen Lab, semen collection yard,
Obstetrics room, museum, phantom hall and palpation room, research lab, HOD room,
and five rooms for teaching staff, office room and store room.The department at
present headed by Dr. K Jyothi, Assistant Professor & supported by one contract
teaching faculty Dr. Mudda Rangaiah MR Dr. K. Jyothi, Assistant Professor is pursuing
her Ph D under MOU in VCH, Bangaluru, KVAFSU.The department is offering three undergraduate
courses viz. VGO 411 (Vety Gynaecology, 2+1), VGO 421 (Vety Obstetrics, 1+1) and
VGO 511 (Vety Andrology and Reproductive Techniques, 1+1)
- As part of graduate course curriculum the students
of IVh
year and Vth
year BVSc & AH students are imparted practical skills on reproductive anatomy,
palpation techniques, pregnancy diagnosis, treatment of reproductive disorders,
AI, management of obstetrical disorders and various assisted reproductive techniques.
The students of Vth
year BVSc & A.H are taken to frozen semen bull station, Nandyal to acquaint
themselves with activities related to semen production, processing and handling.
- The department has so far published more than 50 research articles in various reputed
international and national journals.
- One sophisticated Phase contrast microscope with
CCTV attachment & digital camera is available to the infrastructure to strengthen
the andrology laboratory.
