About

The Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology was established during the year 2010 with posting of 2 teaching assistants. Later on Dr. L. Venkateswara Rao, the present Head of Department was transferred from College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad during August 2012. Since then all the equipment, labware and chemicals were procured and laboratories were established. Presently there were 2 teaching staff working in the department. The staff members are actively engaged in teaching, reaserch and extension activities.

Research and Extension Activities
Research
  • Conducting basic as well as clinical and field oriented research.
  • Conducting Need based and innovative research which is useful to the consumers as well to the profession
  • Expertise areas of research from this department at present include
  1. Antimicrobial resistant food borne pathogens
  2. Detection of adulterants and preservatives in milk and milk products
  3. Water quality analysis
Extension

  • Attending Student  NSS Camps
  • Attending Animal husbandry clinical camps.
  • Interacting with farmers and creating awareness about zoonotic diseases especially during world veterinary day and world zoonoses day.

Other activities
  • Dr. A. Jagadeesh Babu and Dr. L. Venkateswara Rao prepared practical manual cum record for VPE 321 Veterinary Epidemiology and Zoonoses and VPE 511 Environment and Environmental Hygiene as per the new VCI syllabus, which were approved by Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University
  • World Veterinary day and world Zoonoses day were conducted every year in the college along with department of T.V.C.C. at C.V.Sc, Proddatur.
  • Accompanying the Final year students during Internship Programme during slaughter house visit.
