Courses Offered

1. Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry

  • Curriculum
    • Veterinary Council of India-Minimum Standards for Veterinary Education 2016
  • Duration
    • 5 ½ years; Five professional years.
    • Fourth professional year is 1 ½ year.
    • Fifth professional year is Internship.
  • Eligibility criteria
    • 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 with Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English subjects.
    • For SC & ST candidates 5% less than that prescribed for general category i..e 47.5%
  • Age
    • Minimum age of 17 years and should not crossed the maximum age of 25 years of the admission year. For SC & ST there is relaxation of maximum age by five years.
  • Admissions under State quota
    • 85% of seats filled under state quota through combined counselling conducted by ANGRAU with the merit in A.P EAMCET.
    • Farmers quota: 25% of area wise seats are reserved for candidates from farmers family whose parents having 3 acres of agricultural land and candidate must be studied minimum period of four years in rural area.

  • Admissions under all India quota
    • 15% of seats filled by the Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi.

Note : VCI Quota seats shall be filled by university based on marks obtained by the candidates in the EMACET / as prescribed by State Government in their respective local areas from out of the merit lists prepared for this purpose based on merit, preside order, region and social status.

2. Master of Veterinary Science

  • Curriculum
    • Course Curricula and Syllabi as prescribed by ICAR, New Delhi for Postgraduate (Master’s and Doctoral) Education in Agriculture and allied sciences.
  • Duration
    • 2 years: 4 Semesters.
  • Eligibility criteria
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from SVVU/ANGRAU or from an institution accredited by ICAR/VCI with OGPA of 6.00/10.00 or 2.5/4.00 OGPA or 60% marks in the qualifying degree in the traditional system in case of general category candidates and 5.00/10.00 or 2.00/4.00 OGPA or 55% marks in traditional system for SC/ST/PH category candidates. The minimum OGPA / marks is relaxable in case of nominees of State Government/Industry..
  • Age
    • The upper age limit shall be 50 years as on 1st July of the year of admission including ICAR senior research fellowship holders.
  • Admissions under State quota
    • Only residents of A.P. are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR quota. The seats will be filled by entrance test & etc weightage and interview conducted by SVVU.

  • Major Field of Study
    • Major Fields of study shall be as decided by the Academic Council of SVVU from time to time. These will be listed in the prospectus to be issued every year for admission.

3. Doctor of Philosophy in Faculty of Veterinary Science

  • Curriculum
    • Course Curricula and Syllabi as prescribed by ICAR, New Delhi for Postgraduate (Master’s and Doctoral) Education in Agriculture and allied sciences.
  • Duration
    • 3 years: 6 Semesters.
  • Eligibility criteria
    • Master’s degree in the respective/related subject from SVVU/ANGRAU or from an institution accredited by ICAR. OGPA of 6.5/10.00 or 2.7/4.00 or 70% marks in traditional system for general category candidates and 6.00/10.00 or 2.5/4.00 or 60% marks in traditional system for SC/ST/PH category candidates at Master’s Degree Level.
  • Admissions under State quota
    • Only residents of A.P. are eligible for admission except in case of ICAR quota. The seats will be filled by SVVU with an entrance examination and etc weightage.
