The Department of Livestock Products Technology, College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati is well established with range of responsibilities like teaching, research, extension and consulting and it is the only Department that deals with the ultimate and produce of Livestock and Poultry.

The Department is having sanctioned strength of one Professor, one Associated Professor, three Assistant Professors, one Lab Technician, one Record Assistant, one Master Flayer and three Office Subordinates and presently three Assistant Professors, one Lab Technician and one Office Subordinate posts were filled.

The Department is offering 3 UG courses and 2 Entrepreneurial training programme courses for B.V.Sc& A.H Students and 11 PG courses for M.V.Sc students and various PG courses for M.Tech (Dairy Technology) students of College of Dairy Technology, Tirupati and M.S. Food Technology courses for students of College of Home Science, S. V. University, Tirupathi.

  • The department has three separate and independent laboratories for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research which includes: Milk Technology laboratory, Meat Technology laboratory and Microbiology laboratory.
  • The department has two slaughter houses namely Model Sheep Slaughter House and Pork Abattoir.
  • The department is operating two revolving funds entitled “Earn While You Learn Pork Projects” and “Earn While You Learn Meat and Milk Products processing”.
  • The department is sponsoring one silver medal and one gold medal to UG and PG students respectively who scored highest GPA at University level in Livestock Products Technology subject.
