Department of Veterinary Parasitology was established during the year 1973. Prior to that Parasitology discipline was a part of Pathology department. It has sanctioned posts of one Professor, one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professors, one Lab-Technician, one Record Assistant and four Office-Subordinates. This Department is engaged in UG and PG teaching, research and extension activities. The Department has got established laboratory for carrying out the conventional and advanced research in Veterinary Parasitology. Post-graduate programme leading to MVSc and PhD in Veterinary Parasitology was started during 1967 and 1978, respectively and so far, successfully produced 70 MVSc and 11 PhD students majoring in Veterinary Parasitology. The Department undertakes the diagnostic work by screening clinical samples receiving from various parts of Andhra Pradesh and offering Technical advice to the farmers and field Veterinarians for effective control of the parasitic diseases in livestock and poultry.
